New Series & New Opportunity Begins This Sunday!

Hey parents, we are extremely excited to introduce our brand new series beginning this Sunday, May 13th with middle school and high school students called The Few. This series is all about Jesus’ call on His followers lives to reach out to the world around them. One of the biggest things we will emphasize throughout this series is student small groups getting plugged into service opportunities together!

Jesus said in Luke 10:2- “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.” There are 7 billion people on this planet and only a small percentage will follow God’s call to join the few and change the world. This series will pose a huge question to students: what will you do with the call of Jesus? Will you choose to live your life the way you want to live it, as if the call isn’t real or cannot be heard, or will you choose to follow Jesus and join The Few?

We are also really excited to launch Community Impact: Student Edition this coming Sunday. Many of you have heard of or participate in Connection Pointe’s Community Impact outreach. And many of you have done this as a family. Along with all of this we are now offering the student edition to this. We will be encouraging students and leaders to participate as a small group in this ongoing effort. Check out all of our upcoming projects by visiting www.cpccweb.org/impactprojects.

As always, if you have questions or are in need of assistance please email us at students@cpccweb.org.

Spring Merge Recap

Hey parents, as many of you have heard, our Spring Merge Weekend for Middle School and High School students was amazing! God moved through the entire weekend and lives were changed forever. In all, we had 205 students attend (125 for middle school, 80 for high school) and close to 50 small group leaders (25 for middle school, 22 for high school). The best part though is that as a result of their experience at Merge almost 10 students got baptized during baptism weekend. That is the greatest win of all.
Along with all of that exciting stuff, students were moved by powerful worship with Greg Frazee and band and Bruce Humphrey from Mt. Pleasant Christian Church spoke meaningful messages that were motivating and inspiring. Merge 2012 was a huge success.
Below we’ve attached an exhaustive album of both Merge events. Enjoy!!

High School Merge Pictures….

Hey parents, we apologize for the delay but we just got some new pictures of the second half of the weekend, High School Merge. Some amazing things happened- close to 80 high school students attended and the energy was electric. The entire weekend was beyond what we could have imagined or dreamed. Bottom line- God moved middle and high school student’s hearts. We will continue to bring new images over the next 2 days so keep checking back. For now, enjoy these pics from the high school event…..

Amazing Morning/Afternoon at Middle School Merge!

There’s nothing like seeing a bunch of middle school students dance, sing and lift up the name of Jesus. The two sessions we had, this morning and this afternoon, were incredible. Greg Frazee and his band led powerful times of worship and Bruce Humphrey taught meaningful, life-changing messages. In between the morning and afternoon sessions today we hosted a gigantic Angry Birds competition complete with giant birds (made out of stability balls) and pigs (made out of globe light covers). We have some more pictures for you to check out below. Check back at the end of the weekend for an entire recap of Merge Weekend for both middle school and high school students!

Middle School Merge Session 1 Recap…

Hey parents, tonight’s session was nothing short of amazing. 125 students and 22 small group leaders packed into the south gym for a great time of worship and teaching. And, the best part is that they got to do all of this with their small group.

Our theme is Rhythm and it’s centered all around our student ministry’s teaching strategy of Wonder, Discovery & Passion. Greg Frazee and the band led worship and Bruce Humphrey, High School Pastor at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, began by talking about the Wonder that God stirs in all of us. Check out a few pictures below and make sure you check in tomorrow for more updates!

The Weekend Cue- April 14-15

Good morning parents, and welcome to this weekend’s Cue. We’ve got a lot to fill you in on so keep on reading!

This Sunday, we are beginning a brand new series in both Crave and Focus called Illuminate. Here’s a little more about the series….

We’ve read the story year after year. We know that Jesus was crucified, placed in a tomb and resurrected on the third day. And this is important! But when we take a look at the bigger picture of Scripture, we see themes and images that come up again and again to shed even more light on the significance of the Easter story. Just like reading a good book or watching a gripping movie, we understand that the author is trying to turn our attention to something greater than the story itself. Over the course of this series, we look at a few key themes in Scripture—Bread, Water and Blood—to help weave together the greater story of God’s love for us. To take the power of the Easter story and allow it to shine in those places where we need God’s provision, presence and redemption.
[Cue- even though Easter has passed, it's never too late or too early to talk about everything that Easter represents for believers. Take some time this weekend to discuss the importance of Easter with your student.]

We’re excited to have 2 brand new Large Group Speakers on our team, beginning with this series. Tony Trapp is a Christian Counselor and one of our amazing high school small group leaders. He will be speaking to high school students throughout the series. Dave Wohlenhaus is the Children & Student’s team leader at Connection Pointe and a name you probably recognize if you have younger children. “Mr. Dave” as he’s commonly known as, will be speaking throughout the series to middle school students. We’re excited to have both of these guys on our team!

WHAT’S NEW…..

We’re really excited to introduce our newest Student Ministry Team member to everyone. Ryan McGee recently joined our team as the Large Group Director for both middle and high school.

His responsibilities will include overseeing the entire operation of our Sunday morning environments for middle school and high school ministry.

He brings a wealth of musical and programming background. If your student has a gift for music or production and wants to get involved in either area in our ministry, Ryan’s the guy you will want to talk to!

You can contact Ryan, via email, at rmcgee@cpccweb.org.

Join us in welcoming Ryan McGee to the Children & Student’s Team at Connection Pointe!

DON’T FORGET to check out our upcoming events list on our events page on the Connection Pointe website. There are still spots for our Merge Weekend coming up in 2 weeks and our summer downtown mission trip, Indy Experience. You can get to the page by clicking here.

Thanks for joining us for this weekend’s Cue. We hope you and your family have a great weekend!

The Weekend Cue- March 31-April 1

Hello parents! Thanks for joining us for this weekend’s cue.

This Sunday, Nate and Tyler will wrap up our current series Labyrinth in both Crave and Focus by talking about the fact that being a follower of Jesus is not a complicated thing. You can choose to follow at any point. After you become a follower it isn’t easy because there will be sacrifices that you will have to personally make, but the choice to follow is not complicated. Jesus doesn’t ask us to “do this” or “do that” before we can follow Him, He just tells us to follow.
[Cue- spend some time discussing with your student the choice to follow Christ. Ask what has prompted them to follow and how you can help them with this choice.]

UPDATES! UPDATES! Keep reading…..

  • NEXT SUNDAY, April 8th, there will be NO Crave or Focus due to our Easter Celebration at Connection Pointe. This is a huge opportunity for your entire family to attend a service together. We will resume our regular schedule on April 15th.
  • MERGE WEEKEND registration is now open online. Your student will not want to miss this awesome opportunity with his or her small group. Register now by clicking here.
  • INDY EXPERIENCE registration is also open online now. This is an entire week devoted to serving the downtown Indianapolis communities. It’s a great entrance event to missions and service. Register your student by clicking here.

Thanks for joining us for this week’s Cue. We will NOT be posting a cue this coming Friday due to Spring Break and Easter Weekend but check back the following week (April 9th-13th) for more great posts and The Weekend Cue!

The Weekend Cue- March 17-18. New Crave/Focus Series!

Good morning parents, we hope your week has been good. In this weekend’s Cue we’ll give you the 411 on a brand new series entitled Labyrinth plus the low down on a few of our special events. Keep on reading….

Beginning with this series we will be back to our normal schedule (Middle & High School combine for worship but then move into separate teaching times after communion). Nate Reeves, our Student Groups Director, will be teaching in MS Crave & Tyler Sutton, our Youth Sports Director, will be teaching in HS Focus. We’re excited to begin this new series. Here’s a little more about it…

Series Overview
Not everyone has it together when it comes to knowing what God wants for their lives. But, sometimes it certainly feels like everyone else does—and we are the only ones who don’t. And that can make us feel uncertain about our relationship with God and where our life is going. But what if we started believing that everyone gets to play in the game of God’s plan? When it comes to those not-so-easy life decisions, what if things weren’t as complicated as we once believed? What if there is more freedom and less restriction when it comes to navigating the story God is telling in us and through us? God’s purpose for us just might not be the complicated labyrinth we once thought it was.
[Cue- As you dialogue with your student this weekend take time to share what this new series is about and ask this question: When you think about your future and what life will hold for you, is God a part of that picture? How do you hope for God to work in your life? How would you like for God to use you?]
